NBNco has become a member of Communications Alliance, a telecommunications industry body.
The public company was announced as part of the Federal Government’s $43 billion National Broadband Network (NBN) agenda after tenders from private companies were dropped. The government-majority owned company is set to work in partnership with the private sector to construct the network.
Former Alcatel COO and president, Mike Quigley, was announced as the executive chairman of NBNco in July and five new directors were recruited as board members the following month. The company joins a family of over 100 communication players including Alcatel-Lucent, Telstra, Optus and Internode.
In a statement, Quigley said the company appreciates Communications Alliance’s initiatives in addressing key issues surrounding the NBN and looks forward for a mutually beneficial relationship. The industry body’s CEO, Anne Hurley, also shared the same enthusiasm of working with NBNco and said the she was impressed by the company’s enthusiastic response to the industry’s NBN preparation.
