Panasonic ramps up healthcare presence

Panasonic continues to expand its sales channel, teaming up with hardware distributor, DH Technology, for the CF-H1 Toughbook.
Last week, the vendor picked up IPL Communications as the sole distributor for its range of IP telephony products. DH Technology joins Multimedia Technology as a distributor for the Toughbook H1.
The device is a Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA) for healthcare professionals and Panasonic was looking to partner with a distributor with experience in that vertical. DH Technology, which was also looking for a new MCA product to take on, touched base with the vendor several months ago.
In a press statement, Panasonic business systems director, Mark Deere-Jones, said the distributor was selected due to its dedicated healthcare sales and support team as well as an existing portfolio of healthcare products to complement the H1.
With more than 2000 partners, DH Technology national sales manager, Stephen Joyce, said larger resellers and integrators with a focus in the targeted vertical were set to benefit from this new deal.
“We have around 20 to 30 partners playing in that space,” he said. “We are looking to bring in more resellers but we’re not sure how many."
While Joyce has flagged opportunities for new resellers to join the game, they have to satisfy specific criteria.
“We want to concentrate on a value-added channel so we will only look at companies that will bring value to the product in terms of applications and integration.”
Joyce expects the new H1 addition will reap in $2-3 million revenue within this financial year.
