Express Data takes one small step with Plantronics

Express Data has brought communications headset vendor, Plantronics, into its portfolio.

The vendor is most famous for creating the headset that was used in the first moon landing in 1969 by Neil Armstrong.

In a statement the distributor said it was the only Plantronics’ Authorised Specialist Unified Communications Distributor in Australia and claimed its headsets contribute to higher productivity and privacy in workplaces.

“Unified Communications is growing at a considerable pace, not just in the quality but also in breadth,” Express Data general manager for vendors, David Peach, said in the release.

“For example, where in the past it might only have been call-centre operators who required headsets, now considering the amount of time the average office worker multi-tasks while on the telephone, they also need them.” In the statement, Plantronics general manager, Graeme Gherbaz, said the company went with Express Data as the distributor “had the broadest range of complementary products and strongest reputation in the market”.

According to Plantronics’s website its range is also distributed by Anixter and Auroz Pure Distribution (although ED is given the specialist UC distributor title).

Anyware Computer Accessories (PC and Bluetooth), Roadhound Electronics (mobile and Bluetooth) and Amber Technology also are listed as authorised retail distributors.
