Family Court $350,000 videoconferencing contract opened

Court is boosting the use of videoconferencing in its facilities across the nation

The Family Court of Australia has opened a $350,000 tender for the rollout of videoconferencing systems in four locations around the country.

The Court is seeking an experienced provider to supply videoconferencing services and hardware for court rooms in Darwin, Hobart, Dandenong and Cairns.

Tender documents state bidders will be able to participate in a site visit at 10am on Friday, August 21 at the Newcastle Family Law Registry to view current system requirements and set-ups prior to submitting a bid.

The ISDN service carrier is Telstra and the Court also requires a 10-inch colour touchscreen control panel for each location along with other hardware and software that integrates with existing systems.

The tender closes on August 31 at 2pm.

The videoconferencing tender comes after broadband provider, Internode, deployed a $500,000 Cisco solution and other Federal Government agencies expressed interest in deploying videoconferencing solutions; the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) recently opened a tender seeking a service provider for a $200,000 Cisco telephony contract to boost its unified communications strategy.

Analyst firm, Frost & Sullivan has also predicted just under 50 per cent of Australian organisations will deploy a videoconferencing or telepresence solution by the end of 2010.
