Integrators win lucrative Victorian Government contracts

Insight and CSG Limited secure lucrative deals

Two service providers have won big business in Victorian Government after striking significant tender arrangements.

Software reseller giant, Insight, secured a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) contract with the Whole of Victorian Government (WoVG). Following a formal tender process, the company has become the sole Microsoft software supplier to nine core Victorian Government departments. The deal also extends to various administrative offices and public sector agencies. Insight will provide a centralised helpdesk and a range of services including technical support, training for WoVG staff and Software Asset Management (SAM).

An Insight spokesperson said the contract was previously managed by ICT integrator, Commander, which went into receivership last August. According to a press statement, Insight demonstrated thorough knowledge of the WoVG IT infrastructure in the company’s tender submission.

Insight senior vice-president, Andrea Della Mattea, said collaboration was an integral part of the company’s focus. She added public sector was an important strategic segment of its business experiencing continued growth. The reseller declined to disclose the value of the deal. The contract runs until 30 March, 2012.

IT services provider, CSG Limited, also finalised a $65 million deal with the Victorian Government to create an online portal for school students.

Under the terms of the contract, CSG will deliver the Oracle-based and centrally-hosted Ultranet to all government schools in Victoria within two years for $47.5 million. An additional $17.1 million will be spent on providing application hosting, software maintenance, disaster recovery and helpdesk services for a further two years.

CSG said the software was provided thanks to Oracle’s strong relationship with CingleVue, a company acquired by CSG in October. The deal was all but confirmed in late May, when CSG was named the preferred tenderer to build the Ultranet.

CEO, Denis Mackenzie, said the win was a major coup for the company and the fi rst true enterprise solution deployed in the P-12 education space. “It represents our largest multi-year contract in the Enterprise Services division. I believe this will also open up significant opportunities in education around the country,” he said in a statement.
