NICTA appoints new education director

One of Australia’s leading ICT research and development organisations is about to take new lessons from a recently appointed education director.
NICTA, Australia’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Centre of Excellence, has appointed Dr Tim Hesketh to the position of education director.
The former Head of the University of New South Wales’ (UNSW) School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications will be replacing Professor Aruna Seneviratne.
In a press statement, Dr Hesketh said he accepted the role because he was impressed by NICTA’s work with ICT PhD students.
NICTA runs program to help students develop practical and academic skills to create ground-breaking information technologies. It currently has over 270 PhD students undertaking doctoral research under the supervision of leading international ICT researchers.
Dr Hesketh’s will be based at NICTA’s Neville Roach Laboratory in Kensington, NSW.
