Vendors and resellers should not be in too big a hurry to see the IT distribution industry in Australia become a duopoly. Some vendors in the past have actively worked to maintain a more fragmented market for obvious reasons. Smaller distributors will need to know where their strengths are and work on those. Westan is still relevant to vendors and resellers alike. It is more agile and is able to deal with the market that wants it ‘NOW!’. It is also easier to do business with. The industry giants cannot cover every product in every market, it is imperative that smaller distributors pick those niche products and markets that are ‘too hard’ for them. These remains lucrative.
