The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has released a free tool aimed at small business users.
Your small business tax calendar is a program that allows users to input the start dates and frequency of tax obligations. It also asks a number of questions about the nature of the business.
The calendar then automatically calculates the necessary lodgement dates and superannuation payment deadlines and changes them when they clash with weekends and public holidays.
According to the ATO, the tool is made with sole traders and companies with an annual turnover of under $2 million in mind.
“If you run more than one business or have a number of clients, you can set up a unique tax and superannuation calendar for each of them, and tax agents can encourage clients to use the calendar to record upcoming appointments,” ATO tax commissioner, Michael D’Ascenzo, said in a statement.
