Western Australia-based, ASG Group (ASX: ASZ), has snagged $13 million applications managed services contract with Qantas in conjunction with IT consulting company, Capiotech.
Delivered out of the systems integrator’s Norther Region operations in Sydney, the new agreement builds on the company’s previous relationship with the airline.
ASG will use the Oracle Hyperion platform to provide managed services for financial reporting and planning applications for the next five-years. Capiotech will be supply the resources and staff for the project.
The system integrator began work with Qantas in 2006, having scored a deal to support the airline’s eQ e-business system. ASG chief officer for sales and strategic operations, Murray Rosa, indicated that this management deal is one of many opportunities which stem from the existing association.
“We are in discussion with the airline in a number of fronts,” he said. “There are four to five key areas we are looking to provide assistance and services to Qantas and this is but one of them.
“These arrangements are imminent and we expect to be making announcements within the next four to eight weeks.”
Rosa also conceded that the Qantas contract is not monetarily significant, but claimed it is good to demonstrate ASG’s competence in the airlines sector.
“This particular deal is not huge but it is important since it is an ongoing contract,” he said. “And Qantas is an iconic account and it is the sort of market that we want to continue to play in.”
Both ASG and Capiotech will receive an even share of the $13 million.
