$200,000 Cisco unified communications deal with APRA up for grabs

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) is seeking a service provider for a $200,000 Cisco telephony contract to boost its unified communications strategy.

The project, called Enterprise Voice, involves the design and implementation of a Cisco-based telephony system (PABX and voicemail) in each of the APRA’s offices, excluding Canberra.

Primary objectives include: The delivery of voice conferencing facilities; the reduction of the cost of inter-office Telstra telephone call charges (the APRA’s existing fixed-line voice services are provided via Telstra); the provision in the design document of basic call centre failover functionality for the Canberra call centre, which is IP-based already; and to support APRA’s unified communications strategy by enabling staff with functionality such as click to call, simultaneous ringing, call from your contacts list, presence and video calling.

The tender documents state service providers must be Cisco Gold Providers, Microsoft partners and completed a minimum of five Cisco IP telephony implementations for sites with more than 500 seats along with a minimum of three multi-site implementations that deployed Arc Enterprise.

The contract commences August 1 and runs to February 2010 with an estimated value of $150,000 to $200,000.

Bids must be submitted by July 10. Tender evaluations will be completed by July 24 and the winner notified by July 29.

The tender comes shortly after the Australian Tax Office (ATO) opened a tender to seek mainframe technical specialists to provide support to its mainframe developer base and a tender seeking system testers to prod and poke its ICT infrastructure in its multi-agency initiative aimed at simplifying business-to-government reporting, the Standard Business Reporting (SBR) program.

In late May, the Federal Government also announced it would create a panel of datacentre providers to supply space and services to agencies during the development of the whole-of-government datacentre strategy instigated as part of the Gershon review.
