Cyberoam unwraps new UTS Accelerator series

Vendor shows off new security appliance range

Unified threat management (UTM) vendor, Cyberoam, has taken the wrappers off its new Accelerator appliance series.

Binding security to IP-addresses, the CR50ia and CR100ia combine network security with network performance for SME and SOHO clients. According to the vendor, both appliances offer almost five times higher firewall throughput and twice the intrusion prevention system (IPS) throughput compared to existing models.

The IPS database holds over 3000 threat signatures to lower false positives and prevents intrusion attempts, DoS attacks, malicious code, backdoor activity and network-based vulnerability. In case of internal threats, the appliances offer instant user identification within an applied network.

The devices feature six 10/100/1000 Gigabit ports and enable higher levels of network security and granularity. Security functions such as firewall, antivirus and on-appliance reporting are integrated to provide a rounded suite of protection.

Bandwidth can also be managed as the appliances enforce category-based bandwidth restrictions to avoid congestion.

The CR501ia, for SOHO, and CR100ia, for SME, can support 220,000 and 370,000 concurrent sessions respectively. Both are distributed through MPA Systems.
