Apple not selling iPhone 3G online

Australian operations decide not to follow US colleagues in offering the iPhone 3G online

Despite moves by its US counterparts, Apple’s Australian operations will not be selling the iPhone 3G online through the vendor’s website.

Apple started selling its iPhone 3G online in the US this week making it the first time in a year that fans could get the device without making a trip to a retail store or buying from carrier, AT&T.

However, an Apple Australia representative told ARN in a written response that the company does not sell the iPhone online, but does provide accessories.

The iPhone 3G is currently available from Apple retail stores in: George St, Sydney; Chadstone, Victoria; Chatswood, NSW; and Robina, Queensland.

It is also available through Vodafone, Optus and Telstra stores.

Earlier this month, Apple opened its fourth local retail store, this time on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The store is located at the Robina Town Centre, and opened on the May 9.
