Salesforce.com implementation partner, Sqware Peg, has formed a new company called, Click to Cloud, to develop cloud computing products on the vendor's platform.
Sqware Peg owner, Shawn Stilwell, said the new company would run separately and initially concentrate its efforts on the Force.com platform.
“Historically, we tried to manage product under Sqware Peg, and to be fair we didn’t do a very good job of it,” he said. “We got some things up on the AppExchange and we made some noise with SMS and a few other things, but what we learnt was that to give product a proper run, we needed a different type of business model and investment behind it.
“This is a new business model that doesn’t have any services associated to it. Its pure play product development for platform-as-a-service.”
Stilwell would like to expand into other platforms such as Google and Amazon down the line.
“There’s no reason why we can’t build product on multiple platforms, but we’re focusing on Salesforce.com to start,” he said. “It’s had some immediate traction, not necessarily with customers but generally with some other players that are interested in getting into the cloud.
“We’ve come across another product development company that isn’t in the cloud and they’re quite interested in joining forces with us help to help develop and take their product to the cloud.”
