iPrimus to offer unmetered TiVo

Deal signed with Hybrid Television Services

Internet service provider (ISP), iPrimus, has inked a deal with Hybrid Television Services to offer unmetered TiVo content to customers.

The announcement comes off the back of Internode’s similar agreement with Hybrid Television Services, as well as news the Good Guys joined the retail channel of the TiVo licensee in March.

The deal came about after Hybrid Television Services approached the ISP.

“About two months ago, the licensee called us to engage in an open-ended agreement,” iPrimus products general manager, Andrew Simms, said. “After the deal with Internode, they were interested in teaming up with other ISPs to increase their market share.”

Over the last six months, iPrimus has introduced unbridled data usage to all its plans for services such as ABC iView, Lingo and iPrimus download mirror. TiVo will be included in this group in June.

Customers who already own the TiVo device will not be charged for downloading media such as video content, software updates and program guides.

The ISP also has plans to offer internet and TiVo bundles in the future.

“The device might be quite expensive for individuals,” Simms said. “So we will try and bundle the cost of TiVo into a plan so customers can pay it off month-by-month.”

In terms of how it will differentiate from fellow TiVo ISP, Internode, Simms refused to disclose details but has revealed iPrimus will provide new complementary offerings around June to July.
