Updated: Acer extends Synnex partnership

Distributor will now have access to the full Acer line-up including notebooks and projectors

Acer has extended its distribution relationship with Synnex to now include its full range of notebooks and projectors.

The distributor also carries products across Acer PCs, servers and display machines.

Synnex CEO, Kee Ong, said getting the full line of Acer on-board meant that it could offer its reseller base a complete solution.

“It complements our line-up. Acer has a very strong notebook solution and they have a broad product range. They suit a broad market from consumer to commercial,” Ong said. “It will benefit Synnex with offering the full package and providing choice for resellers, which is what I’ve been pushing for many years.”

Due to the extended relationship, Synnex resellers will have the ability to configure and order Acer products from commercial and consumer catalogues.

“I want to focus more on Acer’s product value and how resellers can use Acer products to enrich their competitiveness with their offers to customers,” he said.

Acer first established a relationship with Synnex in May last year. Synnex joins Ingram Micro and Bluechip Infotech in its national distribution ranks. CompuWholesale and XiT are state-based distributors.

Acer general manager of channel sales, Greg Mikaelian, said it had been slowly building its partnership with Synnex, since Cellnet made its decision to scale back IT distribution.

“A year later, we’ve had some good success with Synnex,” he said. “Cellnet, which was one of our key distributors, decided not to distribute our products anymore, so it was an opportune time for us to review our distributors.”

Last month, Synnex obtained full distribution status with Brother.

In other news, the distributor has hired Mark Ung as its senior product manager. He will be based in NSW and has previously spent about 10 years at his brother Cornel’s company Optima, which went into liquidation in August.

“We’ll be using his expertise to drive the NSW market,” Ong said.

Vendors will be showing off their latest wares at the Synnex Alliance road show, which will be kicking off in Brisbane – June 24; Perth – July 14; Sydney – August 25 and Melbourne – September 16.
