The Gold Coast grows Apples and iPhones

Apple has announced plans to open its fourth local retail store, this time on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
The store will be located at the Robina Town Centre, and will open on the May 9. It joins two Sydney stores, and a Melbourne store to bring the vendor's total Australian retail outlets to four. It opened its first retail outlet in Sydney in June, 2008, to great fanfare.
In a statement an Apple spokesperson said the Apple Store Robina will feature hands-on workshops for personalised instruction on the Mac, iPod and iPhone, as well as Apple Youth Workshops - free hands-on workshops for families.
Queensland Apple resellers, such as MAC1 and Next Byte were not available for comment at time of publication, however Next Byte had previously identified Queensland as an avenue for growth for ASX-listed parent company, Vita Group (ASX: VTG).
Other Apple resellers have been finding the market conditions challenging, with WA-located reseller Digilife appointing receivers in March.
