D-Link unveils new dual-band access point

Networking vendor, D-Link, has unveiled its first 802.11n wireless LAN solution geared specifically for SMBs.
The DAP-2590 AirPremier N Dual Band PoE Access Point offers multiple operation modes including AP, Wireless Distribution System (WDS), WDS with AP, and Wireless Client. It features dual-band wireless LAN options and Power over Ethernet capabilities, and is suitable for indoor mounting where power outlets may not be readily be available.
The access point has a Plenum-rated metal chassis, and provides maximum wireless signal rates of up to 300Mbps in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless band. It supports Wi-Fi Multimedia Quality of Service, as well as WPA and WPA2 security. Additional safety measures range from MAC address filtering, wireless LAN Segmentation and Disable SSID Broadcast, to rogue AP detection and Wireless Broadcast Scheduling.
Other features include three detachable antennae, as well as support for Radius server back-end and Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP). The 802.11n access point is backwards compatible with 802.11a and 802.11g and has Load Balancing for managing traffic volume, and Spanning Tree Protocol.
The DAP-2590 AirPremier N Dual Band PoE Access Point retails for $965 and comes with D-Link’s AP Manager II management software.
