Synnex has established a distribution agreement with UPS manufacturer, Eaton.
Under the agreement, Synnex will have access to the MGE Office Protection Systems. Synnex joins Altech Computers and ACA Pacific in the distribution stable.
Synnex categories manager, Jason Lee, said it wanted to further expand its UPS portfolio; the distributor only previously carried a tier two brand, OptiUps.
“It’s a good product to fill in the missing gaps,” he said. “It gives resellers an opportunity to gain more margin and offer different products to their customers.”
Lee anticipated the new deal would add $1 million to Synnex’s bottom line in the first month.
“We play into a very small space in UPS, but with Eaton along, we will be able to expand that a lot quicker,” he said.
The distributor is considering providing some bundling opportunities with either server or desktop systems. For the Surge Protector products, Lee said it would look at bundling it with some notebooks and PCs.
Eaton Power Quality general manager, Michael Mallia, said Synnex offered coverage to a wider reseller base.
“They’re strong logistically and have strong resellers,” he said.
Eaton is also looking to launch its new Nova UPS system in the next couple of months.
“With UPSs, the lifecycles are quite long, so they typically have a lifecycle of three to five years,” he said.
Other distributors that cater for other Eaton products include Bluechip Infotech, Cellnet and Multimedia Technology.
