ESET launches pay-as-you-go security

NOD32 and Smart Security will be offered on a per month, per user basis

Security vendor, ESET, has kicked off a pay-as-you-go antivirus and security software offering in Australia.

The NOD32 and Smart Security service aims to make it easier for users to download security software online. In conjunction with the offering, the vendor has also unveiled an Affiliation program for resellers.

Director of software-as-a-service (SaaS) division, Mike Swart, said resellers could bundle the pay-as-you-go option with their managed services capabilities.

“We’ve created the SaaS option for clients to be able to purchase online and seamlessly through the online portal, giving them instantaneous access to antivirus software,” he said. “The beauty of it is there’s no contract obligation unlike licensed software products. For normal antivirus software, you would need to renew it every 12 or 24 months, whereas this just continues to roll over as long as you’ve got the service in place.” Under the Affiliate program, the reseller places an icon on their website and once a customer clicks through, a trail code is activated and defines where the user has come from.

Resellers can also see an online report detailing all customer activity and a monthly commission feedback.

The NOD32 Antivirus will cost organisations $5.99 per month per user and Smart Security will cost $10.99 per month per user.

Swart said ESET has about 1000 resellers in the Australian market and would like to appoint more software solution and integration partners.

ESET will also be putting on a road show in the next few weeks across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.

SaaS

Good and timely move ESET. In the current economic climate a 20% loading in exchange for a 100% tax write-down makes solid business sense.
