Ingram Micro has expanded its relationship with Trend Micro to represent the vendor in the retail space.
The move will see Ingram take a number of Trend Micro brands to its retail channel, including PC-cillin Internet Security Pro 2009, PC-cillin Internet Security 2009, AntiVirus and AntiSpyware.
Ingram Micro senior director, volume business unit and consumer sales, Matt Sanderson, said the vendor suggested the expansion of the four-year relationship.
“Retail is going very strongly for us at the moment,” Sanderson said. “March figures were up, and in terms of products netbooks are still extremely strong in retail, as well as peripherals.”
Trend Micro joins Symantec, McAfee and CA in Ingram Micro’s retail security product portfolio. Sanderson said this was the same situation as in SMB and commercial segments.
In a release, Trend Micro’s consumer segment director for A/NZ, David Peterson, said the vendor was pleased with the level of representation by Ingram Micro in SMB and enterprise, and that the expanded partnership fitted with Trend Micro’s growth plans for 2009.

Dual Distribution
Note that Manaccom will still be selling the Trend Micro consumer box product mentioned above to retailers. Trend Micro is continuing its distribution relationship with Manaccom and is adopting a dual distribution model. Retailers and resellers can select which distributor - Ingram Micro or Manaccom that they prefer to deal wth. Trend Micro will be offering the same terms to retailers through either distributor.
