Ingram Micro has inked an agreement with Nortel to distribute the vendor’s range of unified communications solutions.
Ingram resellers will have access to Nortel’s Software Communication System (SCS), data networking products and other UC solutions that integrate with IBM and Microsoft offerings, including Business Communications Manager (BCM). The range will be available on the distributor’s website, TechLink, from Monday, April 20.
Ingram Micro enterprise technology group general manager, David Lenz, said a new business development manager will be brought on to service the Nortel line along with an internal product manager.
“They have some very good technology especially focused around the SMB market space and I think they have a nice sweet spot there,” he said. “We saw a good opportunity for the two organisations to come together and that is really what we are pushing forward on.
“We are focusing on partners interested in that market place while looking to develop their capabilities in that area.”
In a statement, Nortel South Asia channel director, Neville James, said the vendor would work with Ingram to support resellers with “in-depth technical support and training” and added the distributor’s strength across the broader IT market was one reason for the deal.
The embattled vendor has distribution agreements with Westcon Group, Aria Communications and Anixter Australia. In late March, it announced a new channel incentive program aimed at providing nPower partners with access to rebates.
The vendor will also hold a SCS roadshow in the coming weeks with events in Perth on April 23, Sydney on April 28, and Melbourne on April 30.
