Melbourne-based Techplus has established a distribution deal with Internet security vendor, Cymphonix.
Network Composer is a secure web gateway that controls both web browsing content and Internet application activity. It also allows administrators to ensure network resources are available for business-critical applications and spikes in traffic.
Techplus managing director, Paul Kern, said it had been searching for a product to fill market demand for a complete Internet monitoring and control solution.
“A lot of the web filtering products just do that, but this goes beyond web filtering and looks at other protocols like email and instant messaging,” he said. “It has a wide appeal in the market. One area that has shown a lot of interest in Western Australia and the US, is education because it provides total control and visibility of the sites people go into.”
Kern said the new range sat well alongside its high-end management products for monitoring and reporting.
“It nicely fits in as an all-in-one solution in the range and it’s also nicely priced for the SME market,” he said. “Most of the other products that do half of what this does are more for the enterprise market and just way too expensive for the SME market in Australia.”
Cymphonix targets several market segments including home/small office users, telecommunications carriers, educational institutions and government agencies.
The distributor will also be offering a partner program for resellers including web-based training.
“Right now, it’s a fairly basic reseller program, but we’ll be building on that as resellers come on-board,” Kern said.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
