Security vendor, Astaro, has appointed Guy Coles as its vice-president of sales for Asia-Pacific and Japan.
Formerly the general manager of Astaro’s distributor, SoftGen, Coles said he took the role to pursue opportunities.
“We were lucky at SoftGen to become a distributor of Astaro. I think it’s an excellent product so once the position became open I jumped at the opportunity. It’s nice to make the transition back to vendor land, too,” he said.
Coles joined SoftGen in mid-2008. He said the distributor would take its time to appoint a new head.
“I left the company with a comprehensive business plan, which I believe they will follow closely,” he said. “The company is in the process of hiring additional sales staff, but I think they’ll take the appointment of a new general manager slowly.”
Coles said his initial point of focus in the new role will be to develop a greater level of support for Astaro’s channel in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region.
“We’ll be looking to expand the channel partner portfolio by brining on additional quality partners that can add value to the product range,” he said. “Additionally, I’ll be looking at the partner program, and what we can do to tweak it to bring additional value to our partners.
“Overall we’re looking at brining more consistency to the region.”
