Taya and Dillon exit Avaya

Avaya South Pacific boss, Carlton Taya, and sales director, Peter Dillon, are believed to be two of several redundancies made at the networking vendor last week.

Several industry sources close to the company alleged the pair were asked to leave, and were among several staff cuts being made.

An Avaya spokesperson confirmed Taya and Dillon had left to "pursue other opportunities". The spokesperson declined to comment on the rumours of broader redundancies at Avaya.

"The company thanks both Carlton and Peter for their contributions to the business during their tenures and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours," Avaya said in a statement.

In the interim, Andy Hurt, assumes the role of acting managing director, Avaya South Pacific. He has spent five years with the company in various roles including responsibility for channel business, marketing and sales. "Avaya is actively recruiting the replacement for the managing director role, and we will ensure our customers, employees and partners are unaffected by this transition," the spokesperson stated.

Taya joined Avaya in 2001 as director of channels and strategic planning in Australia. He previously founded telecommunications reseller group, Nomad Communications. Dillon, meanwhile, took over as South Pacific channel director for Avaya in 2002.
