Broadband wholesaler Nextep, a division of NEC, is upgrading its network to an IP/MPLS routing infrastructure with equipment from Juniper Networks.
Nextep will deploy Juniper M and MX Series routers into its core network, which the company claims will enable the deployment of new voice, video and data offerings while improving the performance of its existing broadband services.
The Juniper SA4500 SSL VPN Appliance will also be used by Nextep to provide secure remote access capabilities, and ensure devices that meet corporate security policies are the only ones granted access.
According to Nextep’s general manager Duncan Wallace, the solution will increase the company’s network capacity, improve performance and lower cost of ownership.
“Upgrading our infrastructure with Juniper platforms will ensure our customers benefit from innovative technology, raising QoS, reliability and performance, while enhancing the responsiveness of hosted applications and services,” Wallace said.
Nextep provides broadband to Australian government departments and businesses through a network of channel partners including tier-2 carriers, ISPs and system integrators.
Unveiled in 2006, the Juniper MX Series is a line of Ethernet-optimised Layer 2-3 routing switches designed for service providers and enterprises. They run the JUNOS software stack.
