Qantas axes CIO after 18 months

Management changes make head of tech redundant

Qantas has axed the CIO role amid a corporate restructure announced earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the airline said CIO Jamila Gordon is leaving “as a result of management changes”, and that responsibility for technology will fall on Qantas executive manager of corporate services and technology David Hall.

Gordon was CIO at Qantas for only 18 months.

The airline would not comment further.

Gordon previously held senior executive roles at IBM, where she managed some of the world's largest outsourcing deals in France and the Netherlands.

She has also worked for GIO and Deloitte Consulting where she oversaw an IT transformation strategy and end-to-end IT service delivery across 11 countries for a major European bank.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
