Fortinet has parted company with Lan 1
Unified threat management vendor, Fortinet has parted company with distributor, Lan 1, after conducting a strategic review.
Fortinet country manager, Charles Cote, confirmed the change had been made.
“We had done a thorough review of the systems in place, the business offerings, and Lan 1 is a very strong organisation but, at this point in time, if we clearly look at the distribution process, we followed the process and criteria and had to make a decision from there,” he said.
Lan 1 IP security business manager, Christo Simeonoff, said both organisations had agreed to go their separate ways citing differences in market strategy in network security.
Over the past few months, the vendor reviewed its distribution network. This required distributors to meet certain certification and capability criteria.
The remaining Fortinet distributors are Firewall Systems and Whitegold.
As part of the review of its distribution network and the growth in the market, Fortinet has also hired Abe Khamis as its senior channel manager.
He will focus on Fortinet gold partners, including Dimension Data, Integ, Logica, Fujitsu, Verizon and Seccom Global.
Khamis previously worked for Symantec under its emerging technology group as a channel partner manager. He also held roles at Business Objects and StorageTek.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
