The Good Guys will take on TiVo after licensee, Hybrid Television Services, added the chain to its retail channel.
TiVo is a digital television receiver that gives users the ability to record, pause and rewind live programs. It has been widely used in the US for a decade and was released in Australia late last year.
In a statement, Hybrid Television Services CEO, Robbee Minicola, said growing TiVo’s retail channel is paramount to persuading analogue television users in Australia to go digital.
According to GfK statistics, the sale of digital set top boxes in the country jumped from 556,253 in 2007, to 669,386 in 2008.
Average sale price of the equipment dropped from $165 in 2007, to $139 in 2008.
The Good Guys will join Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Dick Smith Electronics and David Jones as the retailers for TiVo in late March.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
