Avnet has appointed a new technical product specialist to its storage and virtualisation business unit after achieving solid growth.
Farrukh Azim comes to the company with 10 years experience in the storage industry.
“I have seen a significant growth with Avnet in this space,” Azim said. “The main storage products which I am going to support and provide knowledge are amongst others - CommVault, Data Domain and Google. These solutions are offering great and exciting technologies and their solutions are different to other vendors in the storage industry.
“My main goal is to take my existing knowledge and enhance it further, and ensure that I am a valuable resource and trusted advisor internally for Avnet and for our partners.”
Azim’s role was newly created and the distributor will also be selectively adding staff in some areas going forward.
Prior to joining Avnet, Azim held technology architect roles involving vendors such as CommVault, Cisco, Computer Associates, Hitachi Data Systems, McData, Symantec, Brocade and Qlogic. He also has achieved the highest level of EMD certification and received the vendor’s Channel Express Award in 2006.
Avnet’s general manager, Gavin Lawless, recently told ARN there were opportunities in the market despite the economic climate, and the distributor was sticking to its market strategies. The company also has expanded its marketing staff with the appointment of Kendall Neal.
