SoftGen tightens security with Sunbelt

SoftGen has broadened its portfolio by forming a partnership with software security vendor, Sunbelt.

SoftGen general manager, Guy Coles, said he was impressed with the functionality of the product line.

“My background is in security, and I’ve become a critic of the anti-malware solutions that are out there – most of which has become bloatware,” Coles said. “Sunbelt offers exactly what it promises.”

Coles claimed Sunbelt was a complementary product to SoftGen’s other security products, such as Astaro. The vendor’s range includes Vipre Enterprise, CounterSpy Enterprise, Ninja Email Security and Sunbelt Exchange Archiver.

Other vendors that SoftGen has taken on in the past year include Antitheft.net.au and Accusoft. Coles said the distributor was seeing a lot of interest from vendors, but was turning the majority down.

“We’re open to other complementary vendors, when we find something ground-breaking, but for the most part we’re focused on the application development space,” he said.

“We’ll be aggressively recruiting new partners to take on the Sunbelt line. We’re also running a Q1 promotion to enterprise customers to get the product installed cheaply.”

In a release, Sunbelt director of international sales, John-Erich Mantius, said the vendor felt Australia was an important growth market.

“The establishment of a relationship with SoftGen provides us with an ideal way to reach our target markets, through both the consumer retail channel as well as a significant corporate value-added reseller community,” he said in the release.
