Siemens Enterprise Communications’ new general manager, Edgar Giesel, has pledged a greater commitment to the channel in a bid to win further market share.
“My focus will be to develop more business through the channel,” Giesel said. “We’re going to be launching more products through the year and developing our channel further in newer verticals for us, such as healthcare.”
Siemens had 30 business partners and was looking to expand that by another 10 by the end of its fiscal year, Giesel said.
“We’ve already brought on two new large enterprise partners this year,” he added. “We’re also going to provide better services for our business partners and in January we began a lot of training programs.”
Giesel took the general manager position from Eric Hampel, who left the company late last month. He has a 12-year history with Siemens, and said he was attracted to a management role in a foreign country.
“I found I like management roles in the Asia-Pacific region, and have worked in Malaysia in the past,” he said. “I found Australia to be an exciting country last time I was here in 1999, so when the position became available I thought it was a good opportunity for me.”
