Siemens has appointed Edgar Giesel as its new general manager

Siemens Enterprise Communications has appointed Edgar Giesel as its new general manager to replace Eric Hampel.

Hampel confirmed to ARN that he had left Siemens to pursue other opportunities, but declined to comment further. During his tenure, Hampel was involved in the vendor’s shift from a direct to indirect sales model and the appointment of IPL Communications as master distributor. At the time, then Siemens general manager, Mario Vecchio, said the business had faced many challenges and as part of a restructure, the enterprise business would run as a separate legal entity to Siemens Australia and report directly to Siemens Enterprise Communications in Germany.

In May last year, Hampel also helped launch a unified communications solution targeting SMBs called HiPath Open Office, which it planned to push through its value partner network..

Siemens representatives confirmed Giesel's appointment but said he was unavailable to comment at the time of publication.
