Adobe will shed some of its Australian staff

Software vendor, Adobe, has joined the ranks of IT organisations culling stuff, confirming it would shed Australian staff as part of an eight per cent cut of its global workforce.

The vendor has 7000 staff worldwide, of which 600 will be cut.

The vendor is blaming the economic crisis for the cuts, and joins other large vendors such as HP and Ericsson in slashing its numbers.

Adobe country director, Peter McAlpine, said the local impact would be in line with the global announcement. He would not confirm exact numbers.

“There will be minor workload changes,” he said. “The company is travelling pretty well, and is restructuring to be fiscally prudent in light of the economic situation.”

Adobe currently has 50 staff located in A/NZ, McAlpine said.

Adobe also announced expected revenues of $US912-915 million – below its target range of $US925-955 million.
