Manage Protect and Sonian have become partners
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) distributor, Manage Protect, has expanded its portfolio to include email archiving, announcing a partnership with Sonian.
To be localised under the name, MParchiving, the Sonian solution joins the web and email filtering solutions Manage Protect is taking to the SMB space.
Manage Protect vice-president of sales and marketing, Andrew Johnson, said the appeal of the Sonian solution was its simplicity.
"SMBs have understood the importance of email archiving, but have been very ad-hoc in practice, since historically email archiving solutions have been complex in pricing," Johnson said. "The Sonian solution has a single set-up and monthly fee."
US vendor, Sonian, has focused on not-for-profit organisations and local government, as well as SMB-sized construction, finance and health entities, Johnson said.
"SaaS isn't the solution for everything, but for email filtering and archiving I'm convinced that it is the right delivery method," he said. "Provided the costs are reasonable, an SMB is happy to pay a monthly fee, as it means it doesn't need to purchase hardware, and buy and maintain software.”
Manage Protect has a roadmap to look for other SaaS solutions in the future, such as around instant messaging archiving and filtering, but is happy with the existing portfolio, Johnson said.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
