Ingram Micro has been appointed exclusive distributor of D-Link's VoiceCentre product
D-Link has appointed Ingram Micro as an exclusive distributor for its newly-released VoiceCentre product.
“It’s not going to be a product that is going to be readily available to anybody that wants to buy it,” D-Link marketing director, Maurice Famularo, said. “It can only be sold to D-Link authorised and approved VoiceCentre partners.”
The VoiceCentre solution is the first to provide Microsoft Response Point into the Australian market. Response Point is a VoIP PBX phone system software specifically catering for small businesses. VoiceCentre also comprises hardware components including various handsets, a base unit that runs a specific version of Microsoft XP and a trunk gateway. It is designed for organisations of up to 50 users.
“There’s no real need for the reseller or integrator to be an IP telephony professional, but they would need to do some training with us,” Famularo said. “This opens up a door for people that are traditional networking installers that are looking at another form of revenue.”
Partners will have to meet a certain criteria and licensing agreements, he said.
“We’re not looking to saturate the market with integrators and resellers,” Famularo said. “Some of the things we need to discuss with resellers is what they can bring to the party. It’s not just selling the product, but also looking at how that product will integrate into their existing network.”
Training will commence in early 2009 and partners will be taught how to sell and support the product as well as how to create the solution for the customer.
