Astaro targets SMBs to increase sales

Security vendor sees potential in the tightening economic sitation with smaller customers and scalable solutions
Matthew Sainsbury  07 November, 2008 12:27:00

Security vendor, Astaro, is making a push to increase mid-market sales with a new mail security solution and partner.

The Astaro Mail Gateway offers users anti-spam, anti-virus, email encryption and active directory/Exchange integration. Astaro VP sales, Bryan Stibbard, said the vendor was looking to capitalise on the SMB space with the new offering.

To achieve this the security vendor has brought City Software on-board as a preferred partner, and is undertaking a number of programs and initiatives to develop its presence in the space, Stibbard said.

“From November 12-14 all partners will have access to free online engineer training,” he said. “75 per cent of our business comes through SMBs, and while we don’t expect this percentage to increase, we are looking at making more sales into the space.”

City Software brings the vendor’s local reseller count to 40.

“We reassess partners on the calendar year, and we’ll continue to look to recruit partners, although we’re not looking to have 400 – skills are more important to us," he said. "Roughly 70 per cent of our partners are SMB focused.”
