Lenovo has taken its first step into the Australian SMB server market, officially launching its ThinkServer offering through Ingram Micro and Dicker Data.

Announced last month, the ThinkServer product range covers both tower and rack servers capable of running Windows Server, Red Hat and Novell SuSE operating systems. It is aimed at the SMB and branch office market.

At the Australian launch in Sydney, Lenovo director of channel development, workstations and servers A/NZ, Matthew Steele, said the vendor's aim was to make setup and management easy for SMBs.

“Lenovo has developed its own management tools and offers warranty, priority support, on-site installation and support through authorised partners,” Steele said.

In September, Lenovo announced it had selected Ingram Micro and Dicker Data as the distributors for the ThinkServer line.. Both distributors will have sales and technical training, and Steele added Lenovo was committed to hands-on training for all channel partners.

“We brought Dicker Data on board initially to target the SMB market, and with Ingram Micro we’re keeping a narrow focus, and aiming to make the distribution of servers as easy as possible,” he said.

ThinkServers will be made available through the Lenovo TopSeller program like all other “Think” products.
