Recruitment within the IT industry remains robust, despite the sour economic climate, according to the latest Hays Quarterly Report.
Hays Information Technology regional director, Peter Noblet, said feedback from the IT industry was that recruitment was not as boyant as it was a year ago, but was nonetheless much stronger than in other industries.
“Organisations know they can continue to gain a competitive advantage through investment in their technologies. IT businesses will spend as long as there is a positive outcome for the company,” Noblet said.
The Hays report contradicts the [[ArtID:84491060|Olivier Job Index, which has seen the number of ads drop 20 per cent over the past six months.|New] Noblet said if the economic climate continues on its current path recruitment could fall further.
“If the current economic trends continue, employers will be more careful and invest more wisely, and therefore be careful about the people they bring into the organisation,” he said.
The most active skills in demand are networking, developers, help desk and support staff, business analysts and IPCC Express and Enterprise engineers and architects, according to the report.
