Amber Technology has signed a new distribution agreement with LifeSize Communications
Amber Technology has struck a new distribution agreement with high definition video conferencing manufacturer, LifeSize Communications.
Amber national product manager for display products division, Rod Sommerich, said the deal helped to expand the distributor's portfolio offering to its customer base. “LifeSize saw an opportunity to offer products to a slightly different market to that it had already been working with the AV channel,” he said.
Sommerich said the new range would be managed under its display products group, which looks after corporate audio visual requirements.
“Our client base covers broadcast, law enforcement, corporate, government and education,” he said. “The strategy will be to bring resellers on-board and qualify them. They would need to meet the appropriate LifeSize criteria to be able to become a reseller and they would have access to Amber’s support base and expertise.”
Resellers also will need to have expertise and understanding of the AV market and be able to provide a complete solution to users.
“They need to be capable of supporting and working with the product and ensuring the user gets the outcome they want,” Sommermich said.
Amber joins Westan in the distribution line up.
LifeSize A/NZ regional sales manager, Patrick Micallef, said the vendor was looking to increase its national presence.
“We needed AV representation and AV integrators who could take the product as a new addition to their video conferencing experience,” he said. “They had a complementary product set, which we thought was attractive.”
This is the first time LifeSize has appointed a dedicated person to manage the region. Micallef previously spent a year and half at Westan as the director of its business communications division and before that, eight years at Siemens and NEC.
Westan has appointed Hamish Kinsella to Micallef’s role. He previously worked for Westan in its vertical communication product space.
