HP subsidiary EDS is working with the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) to develop a global standard for assessing an organisation's IT Service Management (ITSM) capability.
The standard, ISO 20000-4, will be based on the existing International Standards Organisation [ISO] management system standard, ISO 20000.
An accompanying assessment method, ISO 15504-8, is also under development.
The standards promise to be superior to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library [ITIL] best-practice framework in at least one respect – they can be used to compare ITSM levels between organisations.
The standard is expected to be ready for publication in 2011.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
