WatchGuard Technologies has a new channel sales manager
Security vendor, WatchGuard Technologies, has appointed David Brennan as its channel sales manager to help with its push into the SMB and mid-market space.
Brennan’ newly created role has three main points of focus.
“I’m going to be making sure our existing partners are well supported and look to make closer contact with them,” he said. “Then I’ll be looking at growth in the SME market – there are areas not covered by our current partner base so I’ll be putting in new channels. Finally, I’ll be pursuing new initiatives as we move into the middle market space.”
WatchGuard has recorded 50 per cent year-on-year growth in Q2. Brennan claims this demonstrated its ability to steal market share.
Its channel staff headcount is also growing rapidly, and is supported by dedicated field sales staff.
“We assist our partners at both ends – our field sales staff find leads for partners and we also help to close deals,” Brennan said.
WatchGuard regional director, Scott Robertson, said the local team had grown 300 per cent in the past 18 months as the vendor continues to invest heavily in marketing and technology.
“We anticipate additional headcount in the channel to the tune of double the number over the next 12 to 24 months. Appointments such as Brennan’s will continue to be made while there is the need in the channel,” Robertson said.
Prior to joining WatchGuard, Brennan was with Unisys as a security practice manager operating in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. He also was CRM business manager for Oracle, based in Thailand.
