Gen-i has appointed a new general manager of Australia
ICT solutions provider, Gen-i, has appointed Phil Varney as its general manager of Australia as it looks to make a mid-market push.
Varney said that while the company is committed to its enterprise client base, and was strong with finance and retail verticals, the mid-market was underserved and Gen-i could add value to companies in that space.
“We want to work with a wide range of clients, and not just service the entire enterprise market,” he said.
“We’re looking to optimise what we have here and prepare for a solid growth phase. We have a clear plan about our proposition to market and we’re investing in our sales force now.”
Prior to Varney's appointment, the general manager's role was handled by Rhoda Holmes, who has now left the company. “Holmes was running some trans-Tasman clients prior to my appointment, and we want to focus and build the market in Australia, so in a sense my role is a new one,” he said.
Prior to joining Gen-i, Varney was the director of Acadia West, his own consultancy firm specialising in business strategy, sales force effectiveness and outsource transactions. He has also held positions with British Telecommunications (BT), Motorola’s mobility division, and Mars.
