NSW-based distributor, SoftGen, has inked a deal with US-based automation and optimisation vendor, MVP Systems Software. SoftGen will be distributing MVP’s Job Access and Management System (JAMS), a .Net based job scheduling solution that includes cross platform capabilities, file and job dependency support and resource-based and event-driven scheduling.

SoftGen general manager, Guy Coles, said the new range complemented its portfolio of development tools.

“It’s a very robust multi-platform tool and it made good business sense to team up,” he said.

The corporate sector will stand to benefit the most from using JAMS, Coles said.

“It brings the greatest benefit to organisations that do massive amounts of back scheduling, predominantly after hours. Banks are a good example of that,” he said.

Earlier this month, SoftGen partnered up Astaro.

“It’s a very exciting time; we’re going through a substantial growth phase at the moment with the number of products that we’re taking to market. We’re getting more aggressive in the market place than we’ve been before,” Coles said.

MVP vice-president, Scott McCausland, said he had been searching the local market place for a distributor that dealt with development tools, and SoftGen proved to be a good fit.

“Based on my experience, a successful software company should be able to generate at least 50 per cent of its revenue outside of North America. The only way I can ramp up this part of the operation quickly is to bring distributors on-board who know the local market and can provide instant credibility and penetration,” McCausland said.

He hinted that MVP planned to open a local branch late next year.
