Synnex has expanded its Perth operation to accommodate for further growth in the region.
The new premises is located in suburb of Malaga and measures about 2500sqm. CEO, Kee Ong, said the new location was almost double the space of the previous warehouse. “We needed to grow,” he said. “The current location was not able to cope with the level of business.”
The distributor also has plans to expand its Sydney warehouse in October, which is currently located in Lidcombe. Kee said the new Sydney location would also be doubling in size to about 5000sqm.
Plans to expand its Melbourne headquarters are also on the cards for this year.
“We’re looking at building a new warehouse behind our current one in Melbourne,” Ong said. “Nationally, we’re also increasing the number of trucks on the road to increase our direct shipments to resellers.”
Synnex is also looking to hire more staff across sales, product management and logistics. The distributor has more than 300 staff nationally. “This year alone we’ve hired over 60 staff,” Ong said. “We will be recruiting more on a stage by stage basis.”’
Earlier this year,Synnex expanded its Brisbane presence.
In May, Ong announced the distributor would spend up to $20 million on expanding its local capabilities.
