Phoenix Toner to distribute InfoPrint

Printing distributor claimed to be the first to offer the IBM/Ricoh join venture a national presence
Matthew Sainsbury  24 July, 2008 14:06:06

InfoPrint Solutions Company, a joint venture between vendors IBM and Ricoh, has appointed Phoenix Toner as its broad-based national distributor.

Phoenix Toner joins existing distributors, Cellnet, Impact Systems and Distribution One. InfoPrint Solutions channel manager, Owen Mostert, reckoned there would be no competition between the distributors.

"Distribution One is a value-added distributor offering managed print services and Cellnet handles the industrial side of our business," he said. "Phoenix Toner also offers us national representation, where we've been previously focused on the east coast."

Mostert would not been drawn on how the new partnership would affect InfoPrint's relationship with Impact Systems. He also said the vendor was not looking to appoint further distributors.

Phoenix Toner general manager, Don Bentley, claimed its partners had been requesting InfoPrint products but getting them through the vendor's existing model was unwieldy.

"The product line complements what we do perfectly and offers resellers something they've been requesting," he said.

Other vendors in Phoenix Toner's stable include Brother, Lexmark, Epson, Kyocera, Oki, Verbatim and HP.

The pair are currently finalising a joint marketing plan involving roadshows and a launch through advertising and specials, Bentley said.
