Melbourne-based distributor, Tonnex International, has inked a deal with Konica Minolta for its portfolio of laser printer consumables.
Tonnex director, George Solomon, said the deal added another dimension to its product range and would help increase client reach.
"Konica holds a very niche position in the market place," he said.
Solomon said he would like to eventually get involved in Konica's hardware printer portfolio.
"At this stage we'll be taking up the supplies. We haven't really moved into hardware yet, but we're looking at it," he said.
Tonnex is looking to add more resellers to its books and is now calling for specialised hardware partners that sell colour machines and ones that play into the colour graphics market. The distributor has more than 780 active resellers, Solomon said.
"That's a market where we haven't had a lot of products to offer but this is increasing with Konica and Epson," he said.
Partners gain access to Tonnex's reseller rewards program, which offers rewards points for every item purchased.
Last month, Konica signed a distribution deal with NSW-based Impact Systems for its printer and consumables portfolio. Other distributors include Ingram Micro and Alloys International.
In other news, Tonnex is also looking to establish a presence in Perth by year's end. In February, Tonnex established a new location in Sydney. It also has a warehouse in Brisbane.
"We're investigating that [Perth] at the moment," Solomon said. "It will give us more comprehensive distribution across the Australian market."
