Shane Lucas is stepping down from his role as vice-president and general manager of HP's local Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) after just six months in the job.
A statement issued by HP said he had decided to step down 'due to health reasons... and will focus his full-time attention on the role as director for Graphic Imaging & Printing Group South Pacific'.
Lucas was promoted to IPG general manager in January following the departure of Christoph Schell, who left to take up a regional role in Singapore last November.
Prior to his IPG promotion, Lucas spent two years in the graphic imaging role that he will now revert to.
"[HP has been] facing a lot of competition and there's been a lot of activity, especially in the entry-level market," IDC program manager for hardcopy peripheral research, Rishi Ghai, said.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
