ASX-listed integrator, Commander, (ASX: CDR) is investing in training resources from Talent2 in a bid to help transform its business.

The human resources and recruitment outfit will provide Commander staff and franchisees with managed learning and development services.

Talent2 head of learning and development, Peter Goldrick, said Commander was looking at obtaining better co-ordination of learning resources for staff and a better value for their investment.

"They needed a better focus in terms of the learning they were providing to ensure they were giving people the right skills and to evaluate whether they were getting any impact from the up-skilling," he said. "As part of this refocus they engaged with Talent2 to reengineer their learning in line with future direction."

Goldrick said Talent2 would provide Commander staff with customer and technical training, as well as manage the integrator's training administration, reporting and suppliers.

The arrangement will also see Commander's existing training staff transfer to Talent2 and continue offering training services to the integrator.

"The first wave of training will have a lot to do with customer touch and it will range across technical, professional and leadership skills. It's a full gamut of training," Goldrick said. "Amanda [Lacaze, Commander CEO and managing director] has shown a commitment as the organisation changes its focus to getting the right people with skills in the right jobs."

The investment in staff training skills is part of the integrator's business restructure, announced in January.

In a statement, Lacaze said training was integral to building up the skills and capabilities to successfully execute the company's turnaround plan.

"Professional development of Commander employees and the provision of technical training to customers and franchisees is core to delivering our customer value proposition," she said.

Commander was recently cleared by the Workplace Ombudsman of any breaches to the Workplace Relations Act since axing 600 staff on January 31.
