Security distributor, Unixpac, has formalised a partnership with network security appliance vendor, Bivio.
The vendor's scalable network appliance platforms perform deep packet inspection and are based on a Linux executable environment. Features include traffic management, configuration and applications management capabilities.
Unixpac managing director, Tom Piotrowski, said Unixpac had worked with the vendor in the past but only recently formalised the distribution arrangement.
He claimed the Bivio products were a lower-cost alternative for manufacturers and professionals looking to add their own applications into their networking solution.
"We see the biggest interest for this product in education, research and telecommunications verticals, and other organisations that are not looking for quick 'plug-and-play' solutions, but rather comprehensive and custom-built security," Piotrowski said.
Unixpac was also looking to partner with other vendors wanting to make commercial products using the Bivio platform, he said. Other vendors in the distributor's stable include Web traffic management appliances from Mi5 networks, Imprivata's identity products and intrusion prevention systems from SourceFire.
