Empired acquires Commander WA business

Listed WA services provider picks up Commander's enterprise business in WA for $30,000

Listed Western Australian services provider, Empired (ASX: EPD), has picked up Commander's enterprise ICT business assets in that state for $30,000.

The deal will see Empired takeover Commander's enterprise IT services contracts including supplying hardware and software licensing. The company will also take on 32 full-time staff, bringing its total headcount to 160. The acquisition is expected to add $15 million in annualised revenue.

According to a statement, the deal allows Empired to expand its government and corporate client base in WA. The company has also purchased Commander's enterprise fixed assets and recently expanded operating facilities in the Perth suburb of Adelaide Terrace.

Empired stressed it would not be taking over any of Commander's commodity hardware and procurement business, or any employee liabilities and entitlements.

Like many in the integration space, Empired has been building up its might through acquisitions, splurging $1.86 million on IT consulting firm, Quadrant Group, in November. The company, which was established in 1998, listed on the ASX in October.

Commander's WA sell-off is part of plans to offload non-core assets and comes one week after the ASX-listed integrator sold its network wholesale business, Unitel, to M2 Telecommunications for up to $12.5 million.

Commander said it would continue operating in WA but restrict its focus to core business sectors.
